Pavement Condition and PCI

Pavement condition can be rated using the Pavement Condition index or PCI which ranges from 0 for a failed road to 100 for a road with no visible distress. The PCI is calculated from the results of a visual condition survey in which the severities and quantities of distress types such as potholes, cracking and rutting are identified and measured.

With the PCI you can compare and prioritise sections, and estimate the present and future overall condition of individual roads, areas or the network as a whole. Condition prediction allows you to develop inspection schedules and identify when a section will require maintenance in the future.
